Five ways to remove text from an image

You have a photo with writing you do not want. There are really five options. Pick by how precious the background is and how many frames you have to clear — not by whichever YouTube thumbnail shouted loudest.

1. Clone / stamp

You paint pixels from a clean neighbour onto the lettering. Fine on a flat sky or a quiet wall. On brick, fabric, or wood grain you usually leave a soft scar. Budget: minutes per small mark, hours when the type sits on a busy surface.

2. Content-aware / heal fill

Photoshop’s Content-Aware Fill and Spot Healing guess a patch from the surroundings. Great for dust and short wires. On readable words — especially with glow or shadow — you often get a mushy smear or a repeated pattern. Still the right tool when you already live in PSD and the caption is tiny.

3. Generic online removers

Upload, magic-wand, download. Some are object removers pressed into text duty; quality jumps around, and retention policies are often vague. Fine for a throwaway meme. Risky for client work until you have read how long they keep the file.
