  1. OpenAPI, llms.txt, and MCP

    Agents can read the API contract and call erase with the same key and credits.

    • OpenAPI at /openapi.json; full corpus at /llms-full.txt.
    • MCP at https://api.erasetext.com/mcp — erase_text and get_account, X-Api-Key, 1 credit on success.
    • Config and billing notes: /docs/api/#mcp.

  2. HTTP API is live

    Self-serve erase over HTTPS at api.erasetext.com — same model as All text and Select in the editor.

    • Public base https://api.erasetext.com/v1 — create a key under Account → Developer.
    • One call costs 1 credit; first key unlocks a one-time 50-credit trial.
    • Prepaid API credit packs on /g/developers/ and /docs/api/#prepaid — never expire, API keys only.
    • Docs cover rate limits, errors, mask polarity, and timeouts — see /docs/api/.

  3. Edit reliability, tighter Select, newsletter

    Edit opens the erased plate on the first try; Select boxes hug the words; optional Get Updates signup.

    • Edit loads the chosen plate right away — Original, All erased, Selected erased, or Brush erased — without sticking on a blank spinner.
    • Download on Edit exports the current edited canvas, including any type you just placed.
    • Select text detection boxes sit closer to the lettering, so partial erase picks less empty background around each line.
    • After a Select erase, Reselect returns you to the box picker to change which words go.
    • Homepage “Get Updates” newsletter for release notes and tips — optional, separate from sign-in.

  4. Edit after erase

    Write new copy on the clean plate without leaving the free web editor.

    • New Edit tab: open the erased image (or the original) and add or replace text on the rebuilt background — useful after you remove a price sticker, caption, or watermark.
    • Right-rail plate picker matches Brush: switch between Original, All erased, Selected erased, and Brush erased without reloading the whole editor.
    • Switching plates reuses work already open in Edit when you hop back — no need to re-upload the same erase result.

  6. Editor polish & policies

    Restore brush, keyboard compare, Select hand-off from All text, and legal pages.

    • Restore brush on All text: paint original pixels back where the erase went too far, with soft edges; Erase mode takes a restore away.
    • Download matches the canvas — including restore / erase brush edits — encoded as WebP for a light file.
    • Upload shows prepare / upload progress; paste an image or open from a URL; try sample posters, products, screenshots, and signs.
    • Keyboard shortcuts: hold Space to compare with the original, ⌘/Ctrl+Z to undo, ⌘/Ctrl+Shift+Z to redo.
    • All text can hand detection boxes to Select text, so you often skip a second wait when you only want some words gone.
    • Select modes: Erase selected, or Keep selected and erase the rest; Clear / Select all on the box list.
    • Brush erase can paint on the original or on a prior All / Select / Brush result.
    • Terms of Service, Privacy Policy, and Cookie Policy under /legal/; About us under Company.

  7. Faster results, smaller files

    Lighter erase downloads and one shared specialised path for All text, Select text, and Brush erase.

    • Erase pipeline uses WebP quality 97 between hops; the file you Save-as is PNG.
    • The erase pass itself typically finishes in about one second; end to end still feels like a few seconds including upload and detection.
    • All text and Select text share the specialised text-erase path (same family as the API). Brush erase paints a freehand mask for stubborn stamps and marks detection did not box.
    • Uploads and results auto-delete after one hour on the standard web product.
    • Optional email code or Google sign-in; you can still erase text from images without an account.

  8. Public launch

    Free web editor to remove text from images — no sign-in required to try.

    • EraseText.com opens: upload a JPG, PNG, WEBP or HEIC (up to 25 MB / 8000 × 8000), erase, download.
    • All text finds every word and rebuilds the background — no mask to draw; glow, stroke, and shadow leave with the letters when they can.
    • Select text and Brush erase for partial jobs: keep a logo, drop a caption, or paint only the stubborn stamp.
